My garden is my castle...oder so

Im Garten relaxen ist das Beste, finde ich! Die Sonne ist am Untergehen, taucht alles in ein wunderbares Licht und ein Bierchen in der Hand macht die ganze Sache auch nicht gerade schlechter ;)    Ich kann endlos viel Zeit damit verbringen, mir meine Blumen anzuschauen und zu sehen, was sich wieder verändert hat! Spannend und entspannend zugleich sozusagen! Hier wird es in den nächsten zwei Wochen übrigens wieder etwas ruhiger. Es geht auf Heimaturlaub mit Hochzeit meiner Freundin inklusive! Yay! Wenn ich allerdings an meine Reiseroute heute denke (und da als Alleinreisende), verzieh ich mich glaub ich gleich wieder in den Garten...Detroit, New York, Paris, Wien, Linz...Help!

My garden is my castle...or something like that. Relaxing in my garden is the best thing to do, I think. The sun is about to go down, everything appears in that special golden light, and to be honest, a little beer doesn´t make the whole thing worse ;) I can spend an endless amount of time just watching my flowers and finding out what´s new! Exciting and relaxing at the same time! By the way, the next two weeks are going to be very calm on this blog, since I am going on a vacation to Austria - my friend´s wedding included! Yay! If I think of today´s itinerary, which I will do all by myself again however, I feel like immediately going back to my garden...Detroit, New York, Paris, Vienna, Linz...Help!

Ups, es ist mir ein bisschen peinlich, dass ich so sang- und klanglos untergetaucht bin! Keine Sorge, alles ist im Lot. Naja, fast: Seit die Temperaturen vor drei Wochen von 30 auf 3 Grad gefallen sind (zum Glück ist es jetzt schon wieder wärmer), ist auch meine Motivation in den Keller gefallen :( Verflixt und zugenäht! Aber ich will euch jetzt nicht mit den negativen Geschichten meines Kanada-Daseins nerven und deshalb gleich mal eine Runde "Count your blessings" der vergangengen drei Wochen: Ich habe meine erste DaF-Prüfung bestanden, Baby Gala ist endlich da (also das Baby meiner Freundin ;)), ich habe Upper Michigan und die Großen Seen über Ostern kennengelernt (siehe Fotos) und nächste Woche kommen meine Eltern für drei Wochen! Es kann also nur besser werden und ich hoffe, dass ich meinen Blog jetzt auch wieder regelmäßig wieder mit schönen Fotos und Inhalt füllen werde!

Pieps, I am still here ;)! Ups, I am a bit embarrassed to have disappeared without having said a word! But no worries, everything is just fine. Well, almost: Since the temperatures have dropped from 30 to 3 degrees about three weeks ago, also my motivation has dropped! Damn´! But I won´t bother you now with the negative sides of my living in Canada. So let´s have a round of "Count your Blessings" from the last three weeks: I managed my first DaF (German as a foreign language) test, baby Gala has finally arrived (my friend´s baby ;), I have got to known Upper Michigan and the Great Lakes (see photos) during the Easter Break and next week my parents will come to stay for three weeks! Yeey! It can just get better and I truely hope from now on I can fill my blog again with both beautiful photos and beautiful content!

Sieben Sachen über mich

Hurra, hurra! Miss W hat mir einen Award verliehen, das hab ich ja gestern schon erzählt. Ich möchte den Award zwar nicht direkt weiter geben (warum habe ich hier schon einmal beschrieben ;), aber bei den sieben Sachen über mich bin ich gerne dabei! Seht selbst:

1. Ich liebe es, neben Kirchenglocken zu wohnen (tu ich aktuell leider nicht). Wenn sie läuten fühle ich   mich immer wie im Wanderurlaub im besten Bergdorf der ganzen Welt, Filzmoos!
2. In meinem vierten Jahr in Barcelona habe ich mit einem Schwedischkurs begonnen, einfach so!
3. Ich bin Kommunikationswissenschafterin, und im Detail PR-Tussi ;)
4. Ich liebe Sauerkraut und lasse es mir auch gerne nachschicken.
5. Seit ich im Ausland wohne, fühle ich mich noch mehr als Österreicherin und verdrücke auch gerne einmal eine Träne, wenn dieses Lied im (Web)radio läuft. (Auf dem Berg im Video war ich übrigens auch schon!)
6. Ich bin ein Einzelkind, hätte aber lieber Geschwister.
7. Ich gehe gerne früh ins Bett. Ja, leider!

Hurray, hurray! Miss W gave me an Award¡ as I already told you yesterday. I don´t want to forward it (for which reasons I am describing here), but I´ll sure join in revealing seven things about me. Have a look:

1. I love living close to churchbells (which currently is not the case). When they ring I feel like on hiking holiday in the best mountain village in the world, Filzmoos!
2. In my fourth year in Barcelona I started a Swedish course, just for the fun of it!
3. I have a University degree in Communications, with focus on Public Relations.
4. I love "sauerkraut" and have it sent to me from time to time.
5. Since I am living abroad I feel more Austrian than ever and sometimes even shed a tear when they play this song on the Austrian (web)radio. (By the way, I have already climbed the mountain you can see in the video)
6. I am an only child, but I´d prefer to have siblings.
7. I like going to bed early. Yes, unfortunately!

Aufgeräumt ist!

Endlich habe ich ein bisschen Ordung hier geschaffen und mein Layout aufgehübscht! Als gar nicht großes Photoshop und html-Talent bin ich recht zufrieden damit und hoffe, es gefällt euch auch :) Glückwünsche, Beschwerden und sonstige Bemerkungen wie immer gerne an mich. Ich möchte mich außerdem bei allen meinen stillen und kommentierenden Lesern bedanken: DANKE, dass ihr hier vorbeischaut, ich freue mich über jeden einzelnen von euch!

Finally I cleaned up a bit here and "beautified" my layout. I am not that good with photoshop or html, so I am pretty satisfied with the outcome. Allererste Sahne-Samstag

Nachdem ich heute morgen erst einmal vor Freude aus meinen Pantoffeln gekippt bin, weil meine Leserschaft auf magische Weise über Nacht auf 17 nette Menschen angewachsen ist (der 18. bin komischerweise ich selber??) - DANKE! - haben wir uns zum Einkaufen zum Eastern Market in Detroit aufgemacht. Gottseidank gibt es ein paar schöne Flecken hier in der Gegend! Und gottseidank war ich heute nicht zu feig, meine Kamera auch tatsächlich auszupacken und zu verwenden! Ich hoffe, euer Wochenende verläuft bisher auch so wunderbar wie meins?

After falling out of my slippers this morning, because of noticing that my readership has magically grown to an amazing 17 people over night (the 18 person is me, but why??) - THANK YOU! - we went shopping to the Eastern Market in Detroit. It´s good to know that there are also some lovely places around here. And it´s also good I wasn´t too shy today to unpack my camera and actually take some photos. I hope so far your weekend is as wonderful as mine?

Was mir an dem Award gefällt, ist, dass er an kleinere Blogs geht, also Blogs, die unter 200 Leser haben. Und das finde ich, ist eine gute Sache, obwohl ich Kettenaktionen nicht so mag und deren Regeln schon gar nicht. Ich finde jeder, der einen Blog führt, steckt viel Liebe hinein und hat es somit verdient, gelesen zu werden. Fangen wir an! Wenns ok ist, ziehe ich aber die letzte Frage vor, weil ich Fotos gerne am Anfang mag:

1. Wann warst Du Dir zum ersten Mal absolut sicher, dass DAS genau das ist, was Du machen willst?

Hmmm, beruflich gesehen weiß ich das wohl immer noch nicht. Ich arbeite aber dran :) Privat kann ich da schon eher genauere Auskunft geben: Ich würde sagen, als ich nach meinem Auslandssemester nochmal nach England flog um die Leute zu besuchen, die ein Jahr geblieben waren und dabei auch Dani wiedertraf. Da habe ich gewusst, dass das mein Freund werden muss. Und das ist jetzt immerhin schon sieben Jahre her ;)

 2. Woher holst Du Dir die größte Inspiration und die Energie, die daraus entstehenden Ideen umzusetzen? 

Inspiration finde ich auf der Straße, bei Freunden, in Blogs, etc. Und die Energie beim Schlafen (ja wirklich!), Sporteln und vor allem im Vertrauen darauf, dass alles immer gut wird.

3. Welcher Innenraum hat Dich spontan am meisten beeindruckt? 

Seit ich die Wohnungsfotos von Planet Fur gesehen habe (inklusive der Katzenuhr, die mich über fast ein Dreivierteljahr verfolgt hat), bin ich hin und weg.

4. Was ist für Dich der Inbegriff von Kitsch? 

Gartenzwerge

5. Was würdest Du gerne erfinden?

Teletransportation, unbedingt. Bitte mit automatischem Kofferpacksystem.

6. Von wem hättest Du Dir gerne dein Haus bauen lassen?

Muss ich umformulieren: Von wem würdest du dir gerne dein Haus bauen lassen? Also, von meinem Freund. Der ist Ingenieur und der kann das und dann wird das auch was! Wobei ich aber sagen muss, dass ich nicht so der Selberbauer-Typ bin!

7. Verrätst Du uns deinen ganz persönlichen, regionalen Hotspot, den man nicht verpassen sollte?

Die Hotelterrasse vom Hotel Florida in Barcelona. Die Aussicht rechtfertigt den sauteuren Kaffee!

8. Welche Kunstausstellung war für Dich ein richtig einprägendes Erlebnis?

Ich gehe schon gern in Ausstellungen, aber einen Lebenswandel habe ich dadurch noch nie erfahren ;)

9. Welches Gebäude löst bei Dir leidenschaftliche Gefühle aus? 

Eine Berghütte am besten mit Bergen im Hintergrund, wie es Katja Raumfee hier schon mal postete.

Hello again!

Eventually a video says more than a thousand words. That´s why I decided to ask Howard "Howie" Carpendale to say "Hello again!" for me :) :) :) Enjoy!

Nooooo, seriously (and for all of you who know Howie and skipped the video directly): I am back again! My two new flatmates Mr. Hippo and Mr. Bird and I finally say "Hello!" again.

What two months have a spent and I can´t believe it´s almost four months since I arrived to Canada. Finally I am sitting on a proper table with my Mac and an acceptable keyboard and mouse, ready to talk about my adventures. To cut a long (two-months-long story) short, here comes my summary:

stopped blogging - moved in to our house - upacked 105 boxes (with boxes in the boxes) - visited Niagra Falls - went to a crazy Halloween Party (as the shining twins with Dani) - started "Desperate Housewife Lunches with the other Spanish/Mexican girls - got a visit from my mum - signed up to a conversational class in the library - went to New York - got my driver´s license (this one is a reaaaaally good story...I just had to swap it for my Austrian one, while all the Spanish had to do a theoretical and practical exam. So happy, sorry ;)) - received several petitions for blogging again - blogging again.

Language trouble

Having lived in four countries in the past ten years, is a cool thing. There was my student time in Austria, my Erasmus semester in England, four years in Spain, what I could never have imagined before (after all I have always been a fan of the UK...), and now I am in Canada!

Lots of people I have met during this time who I would like to stay in contact with. As I am not the most frequent e-mailer, I think this blog is a good means of keeping everyone, who wants to know about me,updated about what´s going on in my life. Unfortunately some speak German, some Spanish, but most of them do understand English. So, for all the mumsdadsevastamarassusismarisgabiesesthersmiasinassilvios, etc. I have now decided to switch my blogposts from German to English. As this blog, its content and as its readership evolve, we´ll see if I stick to English. Originally I wanted to write in German. After all it´s my mothertongue, and the language I feel most comfortable in when writing. But I feel at the moment it´s the better way to have everybody participate. I really miss you all and hope you enjoy my blog!
